The UR VMS Vehicle Storage Facility is operating for the City of Nashville, responsible for the impoundment and release of vehicles that have been wrecked, abandoned, or recovered, and also for vehicles belonging to prisoners as well as other vehicles involved in various police investigations.
The Vehicle Storage Facility maintains this database to track vehicles that are brought to the Vehicle Storage Impound Lot.
To reclaim your vehicle from the Vehicle Storage Facility, you should follow the steps listed below:
- Vehicle may be towed if wrecked, abandoned, or driver is arrested

- The Vehicle Database List includes ALL vehicles currently at the facility

Instructions for Non-Owners: Call the Vehicle Storage Facility at (615) 862-7800 to learn what ADDITIONAL documents you must bring if you are not the legal, registered owner (on the title) of the vehicle you wish to pick up (if you are acting as an agent for the owner).
Facility Hours:
The Vehicle Storage Facility operates continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Vehicles can be claimed at any time.
Required Documentation for Vehicle Owners:
- Valid government-issued photo identification or driver’s license
- Proof of ownership (original Certificate of Title, Reassigned Title less than 30 days old, current registration receipt, or Bill of Sale less than 30 days old)
- Proof of current insurance for the vehicle
- Payment for associated fees

Important:
Outstanding tickets or warrants must be resolved with Municipal Court prior to vehicle retrieval.

URVMS, in collaboration with The City of Nashville, conducts FREE public auto auctions for vehicles abandoned at the Nashville impound facility.
Vehicles are offered on an “as is” basis to the highest bidder.
Vehicle preview is available on Tuesdays from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Bidding commences on Wednesdays at 10:00 am. Bidder registration requires a valid government-issued ID.
